Prep

Renovations- The prep stage is where we get the job ready for the edging. We will look at your project with two options in mind.   One option is to go outside the existing edging.   This is generally the least expensive and is recommended unless the increased size causes your bed to be out of scale or to not match up in some way with other landscape features.   If necessary the second option is to pull rock back and keep the dimensions of the old edging.

New Construction-If we are constructing new beds we will lay out the be design with paint and follow that pattern.

Mixing the Concrete

We use a mix of Portland cement and sand along with other  additives to make the cement stronger.   If your cement requires intergral color we also add that during the mix.

Pouring The Concrete

Once the mix is ready we shovel the cement into the curbing machine.  Once the cement is troweled smooth  we are ready to put extra texture and/or or color in your edging.

Adding Color

There are 2 types of colors, one that we put in the mix and one that goes on top of the curb. The main color is the one that goes on top of the curb and it the one that the homeowner picks out.

Expansion Joints

Expansion joints are one of the most important parts of creating a long lasting, crack free curb. They are placed every two feet or so, that way if the curb is ever moved by the ice it allows the curb to move around a little.

Adding Texture

A roller stamp is used to create the desired texture in the curbing.
